Notice of Noise Variance Request
From JEPB Rule 4: Noise Pollution Control

The City of Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board (JEPB) hereby gives notice that it intends to conduct a public hearing during their monthly meeting on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 5:00 pm. The meeting will take place in Room 851 of the Ed Ball Building located at 214 N. Hogan Street, Jacksonville, Fl 32202. The purpose of the hearing is to determine if BAE Systems should be granted a variance from JEPB Rule 4: Noise Pollution Control, for construction activities associated with a project located at 8500 Hecksher Dr, Jacksonville, Fl 32256 - RE# 160830-0210.
The public hearing is authorized by Chapter 360.111, Ordinance Code, and JEPB Rule 1. The Board will consider action to waive JEPB Rule 1.602(E) to allow for a public hearing to take place during the meeting without first having been heard by a JEPB Committee. Copies of the proposed variance may be obtained from, or reviewed at, the Office of the Environmental Protection Board, Edward Ball Building, 214 North Hogan Street, 5th Floor, Jacksonville, Florida 32202, Monday through Friday, during normal working hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, excluding legal holidays recognized by the City.
Any and all members of the general public are invited to be heard at the Monday, March 18, 2024, public hearing by personal appearance or written comment. Written comments should be addressed to Thomas Deck, Chair, Environmental Protection Board at the Hogan Street address, provided above, and must be received no later than March 15th.
Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board Monthly Meetings
Regular board meetings are normally held on the third Monday of the month at 5 p.m. at 214 N. Hogan Street, 1st floor training room #110. The board also conducts public hearings whenever new rules, regulations, standards or funding requests are proposed. The public hearings are publicized in local newspapers and advance notice is given.
The public is invited to attend any meetings or hearings of the board in which they have an interest.

JEPB Committee Meetings
Most of the routine assessment of operations and enforcement actions are carried out first in standing committees of the board which meet at least once per month.

The Water Committee meets on Monday during the fourth week of the month at 4:30 p.m.

The Air and Odor Committee meets immediately following the Water Committee, but no earlier than 5:00 pm.

The Education and Public Outreach Committee meets immediately following the Air Committee, but no earlier than 5:30 pm.
NOTE: Effective January 2019, all JEPB Committees will meet on an as needed basis. Look for updates and changes on the calendar and meetings pages.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
The City of Jacksonville has adopted the following requirements for its public buildings: signage will be posted encouraging visitors and staff not to enter the building it they have symptoms of COVID-19, a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, are currently undergoing evaluation for COVID-19 infection, a diagnosis of COVID-19 in the prior 10 days, or have had close contact with someone infected with COVID-19 during the prior 14 days; signage will be posted regarding the recommended use of masks and social distancing; any member of the public entering City owned public buildings may choose to wear a mask inside the building. Social distancing measures will be in place. All seats will be marked to ensure safe spacing between individuals.
