Special Committee on Fair Share to Discuss Who Should Pay

Monday, April 25, 2005 Jacksonville, Fla.

The next meeting of the Special Committee on Fair Share will focus on who should pay fair share, especially as it relates to schools.  Under the current ordinance, schools are required to pay just like any other new development if traffic for their proposed site compromises the level of service on the roads impacted rendering them failed or beyond capacity.

As part of reviewing the fair share process, special committee chair, Sharon Copeland felt that the committee should not only discuss who pays but also determine if schools should be exempt from the fair share assessment.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Council Chamber, City Hall, 117 West Duval Street, 1st Floor.  For more information about this committee please contact (904) 630-1404. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting.

Citizens interested in sending their comments on the fair share process may either email them to councilcomments@coj.net or write to the Special Committee on Fair Share at City Hall, 117 West Duval Street, Suite 425, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.  For clarification, please be sure to write 'FAIR SHARE' on your correspondence as the reference point or subject.
