The Jacksonville City Council will start televising two of their standing committee meetings in an effort to provide more information for the public. The two meetings, held during each 1^st and 3^rd week, are the Finance Committee along with the Land, Use & Zoning Committee. Comcast will begin to delay broadcast these meetings starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 4, 2004, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and the meetings will run all during the week on Cable Access Channel 24 (Broadband 29). The first few weeks will serve as a test to determine viewing interest and feasibility for future airings.

Since most work, discussion and debate is done at the committee level well before any issue gets to a Council meeting, and most committee meetings are held during the work day, the City Council is looking at alternate ways to make these committee meetings more accessible to the public.
