City Council Member Sharon Copeland, District 6, Updates Constituents on changes to Julington Creek Marina (Ordinance 2006-53)

Council Member Sharon Copeland, in an effort to update the constituents of District 6 and the citizens of Jacksonville, announces the latest information provided to the City of Jacksonville on the Julington Creek Marina Sale. On late Friday, August 11th, Julian LeCraw and Company announced that they had finalized the sale of the Julington Creek Marina. The acquisition includes additional acreage, which will allow for development of retail, office and possible expansion of both the wet and dry stack storage facilities. As a fully operational marina, the new ownership group plans to make improvements to the facility while bringing a fresh focus to its customer service department.
"The Julington Creek Marina has had a history of being one of the best marinas in northeast Florida," said Steve Broome, a senior partner with Julian LeCraw, "We believe that with the potential addition of the retail, office and expansion of the current facility, that Julington Creek Marina can be one of the biggest as well as the best boating destinations in Northeast Florida."
While much has been written about the marina in the past, Broome said that his company's intent from the beginning was to provide the community with a project that both maintains and enhances the community's access to the water front area. Providing continued and improved access to the water for the community along with a quality retail and office space is what the community has been demanding in various public meetings.
"The boating community and neighbors in the area have expressed both concern about losing their marina and support for a plan that maintains a facility catering to both wet and dry storage as well as the community's needs. We plan to provide them with a fully operational customer focused marina facility and quality destination," Broome said.
