Council Member Sharon Copeland To Hold Meeting on the Proposed Changes in the St. Johns River Water Management District's Outdoor Lawn & Landscape Irrigation Rules
Wednesday, October 27, 2004 Jacksonville, Fla.
(Jacksonville, FL) - Councilwoman Sharon Copeland, District 6, is planning a meeting on Thursday, October 28, 2004, to discuss the rule-making process to amend the St. Johns River Water Management District's proposed outdoor lawn and landscape irrigation changes. The changes will dramatically impact how frequently and when individuals and businesses will be able to water lawns, golf courses, farms, etc. in Duval County and throughout the entire water district.
The St. Johns River Water Management held a meeting in September to discuss changes on the frequency of irrigating. Currently residents and businesses in Duval County can water during specific times any day of the week. However, the new proposal restricts watering for limited times during only two days per week. Copeland added, "I felt that it was critical to hold another meeting as I don't think everyone is aware of what the St. Johns River Water Management is proposing district-wide, which includes Duval County, and how it will effect them."
For convenience of many people working, the meeting will take place in City Hall, 117 West Duval Street, 1st Floor, Council Chamber at 5:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
