Women's History Month
Each year the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women honors women who have made indelible impressions on the Jacksonville community through their positive efforts.

Women are selected for their contributions of lasting value to the community and are featured on the Women's History Month poster. 

Honorees reflect a cross-section of ethnic-cultural groups in the Jacksonville Community. The list of past honorees reads like a Who's Who of Prominent Jacksonville Women.

2009 Women's History Month Poster Honorees
Four local women who have made outstanding contributions to the Jacksonville community have been selected for recognition by the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women as honorees on the Women's History Month Poster. For this year's celebration, the commission, presenting sponsor, in partnership with the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, University of North Florida, celebrated past and present honorees of Women's History Month with a reception and exhibit of the collection of commemorative posters from 1986-2008.

Sandy Barata, Carol Hladki, Dawn Lockhart and Roslyn Mixon Phillips were featured on a specially designed commemorative poster.

The poster honorees were selected from nominations received from individuals, women's organizations, agencies and businesses.

Sandy Barata is the Administrative Director, Department of Pediatrics, University of Florida, College of Medicine Jacksonville.

Carol Hladki is the Director of Police Services, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Dawn Lockhart is the President and CEO, Family Foundations.

Roslyn Mixon Phillips is the Chief Community Officer and Director of Recreation and Community Services Department, City of Jacksonville.
