Neighborhood Park Improvements

Enhancing neighborhood parks is critical to ensuring a strong quality of life for all Jacksonville residents. A key goal of Mayor John Peyton is to turn Jacksonville's park system from the biggest to the best - one that serves as a model for cities throughout the nation.

The Better Jacksonville Plan provided $15 million for improving neighborhood parks.  Each of the 14 City Council districts received $1 million, and another $1 million was set aside for downtown.

As a result of that funding, dozens of neighborhood parks have received improvements such as new park benches, water fountains and better landscaping, while playgrounds, nature trails, picnic pavilions and playscapes are being added throughout the county.
