Metro Park Marina Temporarily Closed for Dredging Project

Friday, April 25, 2008 Jacksonville, Fla.

The City of Jacksonville Metropolitan Park Marina will be closed for approximately two months due to a dredging project.

For safety reasons, the docks will be closed to both boaters and fishers during the construction.

As part of ongoing maintenance of the 13-plus-year-old facility, approximately 7,854 cubic yards of the marina will be dredged at a cost of $477,440 supported by the Metropolitan Park Improvement Fund (part of the city’s Waterfront Management and Programming Division budget).

Metropolitan Park Marina is located near Jacksonville Municipal Stadium on the Northbank of the St. Johns River, just west of channel markers G"81" and R"82".  Downtown Jacksonville and The Jacksonville Landing area are approximately 1.5 miles to the west.  The center of the marina entrance is located at N30°19.161' W81°38.467.

The 78 slips in Metropolitan Park Marina can accommodate boats up to 80 feet and a few very large yachts. Slip reservations for Jaguars home games and special events are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis by registering at www.jaxparks.com
