Clanzel T. Brown "SNAG" Golf Course Grand Opening
Wednesday, August 01, 2007 Jacksonville, Fla.
Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton and MG Orender, Immediate Past President of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America, today hosted a grand opening celebration for the new Clanzel T. Brown SNAG™ Golf Park in the Northwest Jacksonville Seeds of Change: Growing Great Neighborhoods pilot area.
Located at 4575 Moncrief Road, the park features a nine-hole short course with holes ranging in length from 35 to 85 yards. The PGA of America, Hampton Golf Clubs and the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, a charitable organization dedicated to protecting abused and neglected children in Northeast Florida, donated the course in an effort to provide a safe and fun golf environment for Jacksonville children.
“Clanzel T. Brown Golf Park is going to be a wonderful stepping stone to help young people become interested in the game of golf,” Orender said.
“This is a fantastic demonstration of community partnership,” said Mayor Peyton. “We are tremendously grateful to MG, the PGA, Hampton Golf Clubs and the Monique Burr Foundation for their dedication to improving the lives of Jacksonville’s children and enhancing our park system.”
Designed for safety and geared toward children and beginner golfers, SNAG™ golf equipment will be available for check-out to use on the course through the Jacksonville Department of Parks, Recreation, Entertainment and Conservation (PREC).
With just two clubs and tennis-ball sized golf balls, the game is as much fun to learn as it is to play. The facility will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Clanzel T. Brown SNAG™ Golf Park will provide a safe environment for Jacksonville children to learn and play together. Conveniently located near the First Tee of Jacksonville, children who show interest in learning more about the game of golf can easily receive more advanced instruction.
Hampton Golf prides itself on community involvement and has held many charity events together with The Monique Burr Foundation for Children.

The companies also operate The Club at Osprey Cove in Saint Marys, Georgia. Hampton Golf is continually adding courses to its already exceptional family of clubs.
In 2003, Orender was named the 33rd president of the PGA of America, a not-for-profit organization comprised of more than 28,000 men and women who work to promote the game of golf while enhancing the standards of the profession. In his 24-year career, Orender has been involved in the construction of 11 golf clubs and has opened and managed an additional 40 facilities.
