RALLY Jacksonville!
RALLY Champions! are teams of volunteers participating in Mayor John Peyton's Early Literacy Initiative where corporate and civic organizations can touch the lives of young children.

RSVP TaleTellers
RSVP TaleTellers are volunteers, age 55 and older, who read weekly to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children in Title I schools. No experience is required. Orientation and in-service training are provided by early childhood and literacy professionals including staff of Duval County Public Schools, Jacksonville Children's Commission, Jacksonville Public Library and others. RSVP also provides an extensive lending library of children's books and other resources.  RSVP is a Senior Corps program, sponsored by the City of Jacksonville, Recreation and Community Services Department, Adult Services Division. For more information click here or call 630-0998.

Children and Literacy
Individual volunteers seeking to volunteer in Duval County Public school classrooms are encouraged to participate in the Duval County Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Program's Children and Literacy.  Children and Literacy provides trained volunteers to donate a minimum of four hours a month volunteering in area school classrooms.  For more information, call 387-8850.

JAXCares About Literacy

This literacy program helps city employees actively participate in their child's educational activities, as well as allowing employees who may not have children to work with someone else's child.  This program allows time off of work to volunteer in the classroom, attend parent/teacher conferences, mentor, chaperone field trips and other activities coordinated with the on-site volunteer coordinator.  For more information, call 630-1020.
