Ages Birth to 5: Child Care
Choosing a child care site is a very important decision for families, and is one that almost all families have to make. It may seem like an overwhelming project, but it doesn't have to be! The Early Learning Coalition of Duval's Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) department is a one-stop shop for accessing child care programs.
If you need information about an early learning program, child care program, or assistance for your child or family contact the Early Learning Coalition of Duval.

Concerned about cost?
The Children's Commission can help you with child care costs. The Jacksonville Children's Commission is your Simplified Point of Entry to qualifying for financial assistance. View the financial assistance page to learn if you qualify and to learn how to become involved. Even if you are not seeking financial assistance, we can help you budget your child care costs.
Step 1: Call CCR&R to locate child care programs in your area.
CCR&R can help you locate child care options close to your home or office. Our database includes all licensed and legally operating providers in Duval County. This list includes child care centers, school and non-school based school readiness programs, family child care homes, nanny services, and preschool programs.
Call the CCR&R line at 904-208-2044 to receive a referral to programs based on your specific needs. Please note that this will be a referral, not a recommendation.
Step 2: Visit the programs on your list.
In order to make the best choice, it is important to visit and compare at least three child care programs. Plan to spend at least 30 to 60 minutes for each visit, and take time to notice the details of the setting. Bring our Tips on Choosing Quality Child Care, and don't be afraid to take notes.
Step 3: Register your child and stay involved.
Each program you visit will have different features, and compare those to your own personal priorities. Decide which program has the most of your priority features at a rate that you can afford, and register your child. Visit again with your child, and talk to the teacher who will be primarily involved with teaching your child.
After your child is enrolled, stay involved! Visit regularly to monitor the quality of care and to strengthen the home/school relationship.
