Healthy Families

What is Healthy Families?
Healthy Families Jacksonville is a free, voluntary, early learning and family support program designed to help you be Mom and babythe best parent you can be, and to help your child grow and develop in the most important first months of his or her life.  The program provides support and education directly to you and to your family in your home.  The goal of Healthy Families is to improve the health and well-being of mothers, infants, and young children in Duval County.

What Can Healthy Families Do For You?
Trained family support workers visit pregnant and new moms and their families to provide knowledge and support in the areas of: pregnancy wellness (prenatal and postnatal), breastfeeding, parenting skills, positive parent-child interaction, stages of infant and child development, the importance of bonding and attachment, and developmental screenings.  The worker will assist you in determining areas where you feel you need assistance.  They can help you increase your confidence in parenting, reduce your stress, and teach you about financial management and community resources.

Why is Healthy Families Doing This?
Because...
1. Babies don't come with instructions.
2. Parents are the most important people in a child's life, and their first and most important teachers.
3. Parenting is a demanding job and all parents have stresses, concerns, and questions about parenting.
4. Infants begin learning at birth.
5. The most important learning in a child's life takes place from birth to five years.
