Pet Education Program

Pet education teaches children about treating animals—and humans—with compassion.  According to Dr. Sheryl Pipe at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), "People who are more compassionate, more considerate to animals and respectful of their needs are the people who are more compassionate and more respectful toward other people."

Presentations by Animal Care and Protective Services staff can be customized to meet the needs of various ages, class sizes or groups.  The goal of our education presentations is to develop empathy by instilling respect and responsibility for animals and their environment.

Our Pet Education Program is available free of charge.
The City of Jacksonville is overpopulated with stray, unwanted dogs and cats.
To reduce this problem, we need to teach children the importance of pet owner responsibility.
Taking care of our pets and spaying and neutering them is a must!
