Wetlands and Wildlife Section

The Wetland and Wildlife Section is charged with implementing or assisting in the implementation of policies contained in the Conservation/Coastal Element of the 2010 Comprehensive Plan. Some of these policies deal with the following:

1. Developing a current high-quality data base on vegetation and wildlife within the City;

2. Increasing the public knowledge of environmental problems, solutions and goals of the City in relation to environmentally sensitive areas, native Florida wildlife, listed species and their habitat;

3. Conservation and protection of native plant and animal communities and habitat; Protecting and conserving the natural functions of existing wetlands including estuarine marshes;

4. Management and protection of unique or especially sensitive environments via the Special Management Area program.

We do this by assisting other City departments, such as the Planning Department and the Parks and Recreation Department, by providing technical expertise in these areas. We also assist other state and federal agencies with programs and projects that work to achieve the goals of the Comp. Plan.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.
