Mosquito-Borne Diseases

Early in Jacksonville's history, mosquito-borne diseases were problematic. In the late 1800's, there were several outbreaks of the mosquito-borne disease yellow fever in the Jacksonville area. However, control efforts have helped to decrease this problem. Mosquito Control works with the Duval County Health Department to reduce the instances of mosquito-borne diseases on a regular basis.

The following pages or brochures contain information on various mosquito-borne diseases. Brochures are printable using Adobe Acrobat Reader, available for free from Adobe.

Mosquito-Borne Encephalitis (Eastern Equine Enecpahalitis, St. Louis Encephalitis, West Nile)

Dengue (PDF 69K)

Malaria (PDF 36K)

Dog/Cat Heartworms (PDF 62K)
