The Florida Legislature has created a separate advisory committee for certified corrections officers enrolled in the General Employees Pension Fund. The committee is solely responsible for the determination of certain pension matters for certified corrections officers. The Corrections Officers Advisory Committee consists of five active, contributing members.
Committee members serve a two-year term beginning October 2008. The Committee reviews and provides recommendations to the Board of Pension Trustees regarding membership, applications for retirements and time service connections, as well as Plan amendments and enhancements. Meetings take place at Jake M. Godbold Building, Suite 101 on the first Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

ORDINANCE REVISION UPDATE
Ordinance 2005-373 allows for retired Corrections Officers to be employed as part time court bailiffs or temporary logistical and technical support officers without losing their pension benefits.
