The Jacksonville Fire/Rescue Department serves about 850,000 residents in an area covering 840 square miles. The department employs more than 1,200 uniformed personnel.
JFRD's budget for Fiscal Year 2008/2009 is $154 million.

JFRD has 55 fire stations and 34 rescue units.
JFRD responded to 114,505 emergency calls in 2008:

JFRD's response time in 2007 was 6 minutes, 44 seconds, 90 percent of the time

To minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fire, medical emergencies and other disasters through prevention, education, fire suppression, emergency medical service and emergency preparedness.
This will be accomplished in the most cost-effective manner with maximum utilization of available resources, never sacrificing the safety of our members.
