Chief Brady RidgonBrady Rigdon joined the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department on March 11, 1991, assigned to Engine 17 in Woodstock Park.  He earned a promotion to engineer in 1994, lieutenant in 1996 and captain in 2002, serving in each rank at Station 17.  In November 2003 he earned a promotion to the rank of district chief and was assigned to Fire 6 on Jacksonville's Westside.

In July 2005, Rigdon was promoted to battalion chief, the department's highest ranking field position.  He served in this position at Station 10 at McDuff and Roosevelt until November 2006 when Mayor John Peyton appointed Rigdon to Chief of Operations.

Rigdon, a second generation firefighter, has participated in many memorable events.  Among them were the Steuart Petroleum fire in 1993 and the Adcom Wire fire in 1998.  He also served as a strike team leader during Hurricane Ivan and as a member of a local Incident Management Team deployed to Harrison County, Mississippi, for eight days after Hurricane Katrina.

Rigdon earned an Associate of Arts degree from FCCJ in 1988.  In 1993, he earned an Associate of Science degree from FCCJ and in 1999 he became a state-certified paramedic.

As chief of the Fire Operations Division, Rigdon directs more than 850 personnel assigned to 56 fire stations.
