Prior to the creation of the Office of the Inspector General in 2007, the Mayor's Office of Performance Auditing and Management Accountability conducted a city-wide organizational effectiveness review beginning in September 2005.
The reviews of the Jacksonville Children's Commission, Jacksonville Public Library, Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division, Housing and Neighborhoods Department, Planning and Development Department and Parks, Recreation, Entertainment and Conservation Department identified potential savings and cost avoidance of approximately $5.8 million to the taxpayers.
