Proposed Survey Datum Switch In December of 2009, Public Works plans to make available a major update to the FEMA FIRM (Flood Zone) Maps. Included in this update will be a switch in survey datum from NGVD 29 to NAVD 88. All documents submitted to us after this switch which have vertical data (elevations) will need to be in the new datum.
Until then, a conversion should be provided on the cover page of documents submitted with elevations. To help find the conversion for a particular site, see our NGVD29 to NAVD88 web page. |
