As the temperatures are increasing, this is the time of year that many vegetable gardeners are experienceing some problems.  The two most common questions we are receiving deal with Blossom End Rot and Wilts. 

Blossom End Rot, is commonly found in tomato, pepper and squash plants.  The symptoms of blossom end rot are characterized by the blossom end of the fruit turning pale green to brown.  The affected area turns into a large sunken spot that will rot.  The disease  results from calcium difficiency in the soil.  To correct the difficiency have your soil tested for pH at the extension office.  According to the soil test result it may be recommended to lime your soil.
