The Office of Juvenile Justice and Offender Based Programs (OJJOBP) provide staff that supports three anti-crime initiatives serving Jacksonville's at-risk youth. The OJJOBP programs involved in youth crime prevention include:
- The Developing Adults With Necessary Skills (DAWN) program provides GED, life skills and vocational preparation classes necessary to assist sentenced 18-23 year old males successfully reintegrate into society when released from detention.
- The Jacksonville Youthbuild Program is uniquely designed from any other Youthbuild program because of its inmate population. Youthbuild provides GED instruction, leadership development, job readiness and job placement. On-site counseling, life skills, behavior management and construction skills are also available for participants (Males age 16-24). Other requirements for participation are:
- Must possess sixth grade reading level
- Motivated to succeed
- A desire to learn
- The Juvenile Justice Comprehensive Strategy (JJCS) Steering Committee serves to enhance existing strategies to reduce juvenile delinquency in the City of Jacksonville.
