CCLV is a membership organization composed of individuals with low vision, their family members and professionals working in the field of low vision. CCLVI serves as a clearinghouse on low vision and promotes education of the public, advocates for research and legislation to facilitate the maximum use of low vision.
CCLVI offers competitive college scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students with low vision. Members receive the quarterly magazine "Vision Access," available in large print, on cassette or via e-mail.

Mission: Its National Service Program (NSO) counselors advise members and non-members across the country, without charge. DAV NSOs act as advocates for individuals to obtain the benefits to which they are entitled. DAV works to lower the rate of unemployment among disabled veterans and the level of discrimination against them. The National Council on Disability (NCD) is an independent federal agency making recommendations to the president and Congress on issues affecting 54 million Americans with disabilities. NCD is composed of 15 members appointed by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. In the 1986 report Toward Independence, NCD first proposed that Congress should enact a civil rights law for people with disabilities. In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law.

The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the IRS whose employees assist taxpayers who are experiencing economic harm, who are seeking help in resolving tax problems that have not been resolved through normal channels, or who believe that an IRS system or procedure is not working as it should. Taxpayers may be eligible for assistance if:
• They are experiencing economic harm or significant cost (including fees for professional representation),
• They have experienced a delay of more than 30 days to resolve their tax issue, or
• They have not received a response or resolution to the problem by the date that was promised by the IRS.
Taxpayers who need assistance may contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service by:
• Calling the TAS toll-free case intake line at 1-877-777-4778 or TTY/TTD 1-800-829-4059;
• Calling or writing their local taxpayer advocate, at the address and phone number listed above;
• Filing Form 911, Application for Taxpayer Assistance Order, with the Taxpayer Advocate Service; or
• Asking an IRS employee to complete Form 911 on their behalf.

TDI was established in 1968 originally to promote further distribution of TTYs in the deaf community and to publish an annual national directory of TTY numbers. Today, it is an active national advocacy organization focusing its energies and resources to address equal access issues in telecommunications and media for four constituencies in deafness and hearing loss, specifically people who are deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened or deaf-blind.
