Forever Young Treehouses, Inc.

One Lawson Lane South, Suite 140

Burlington, VT 05401

Telephone:  (802) 862-4630

Website:  www.treehouses.org

Forever Young Treehouses (FYT), a 501c3 corporation began in 1998, when financial advisor Bill Allen talked his friend Phil Trabulsy, MD, into building a treehouse at his home in Vermont. As members of the board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, they were particularly sensitive to the needs of children with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

FYT promotes the construction of universally accessible treehouses across the country. While accessible treehouses provide a memorable experience for everyone, we focus on treehouse construction for children and young adults with special needs who are routinely  confronted with barriers to fun and play in their daily lives. An accessible treehouse removes these obstacles, bringing people of all abilities together and closer to nature.

Accessibility  is only one of the characteristics that set our treehouses apart. FYT are not only ADA compliant, but also safe, unique in character and craftsmanship, use building methods that protect the health of the trees, and work within our client’s financial goals.

Jacksonville Miracle League

Web site:  www.jacksonvillemiracleleague.org
Address of park:

Jacksonville, FL 32244

We are a League that provides opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball, regardless of their abilities. We cannot change or cure the medical issues life has dealt disabled children. What we can do is provide them with an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing baseball. We believe every child deserves a chance to play baseball.

There is something about playing the game that lights up a youngster's eyes. But for children facing serious Physical and mental disabilities that opportunity can often be difficult to achieve. Baseball diamonds weren't exactly designed with wheelchairs and crutches in mind. The Jacksonville Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field. Since the main barriers for these children arise from the natural grass fields used in conventional youth leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, synthetic Turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assertive devices while helping to prevent injuries. But it's more than playing a game. The Jacksonville Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other kids. To help the athletes, the Miracle league uses a "buddy" system, pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described. The Jacksonville Miracle League serves Children and Young Adults of all ages, who suffer from any physical or mental disabilities, which causes them to be excluded – Whether intentionally or not – from conventional youth baseball leagues.
