IMPORTANT NOTICE: Huguenot Memorial Park: visitors are advised to call before visiting the park. Conditions due to capacity, tide and wildlife periodically require temporary closures of the park to beach access. Currently approximately 4,500 feet of shoreline around the area commonly referred to as “the Point” is temporarily closed to vehicular traffic in order to protect an expanded number of birds nesting and foraging in the northern part of the park’s beach. The bird nesting season begins around April 1 and typically runs to Aug. 31. The temporary closure may be extended as long as the nesting and fledging activity warrants.
Pedestrians and recreation will still be allowed in this area; however, pedestrians are urged not to disturb the young birds. Visitors wishing to access “the point” in zone 12 are advised to park along the Atlantic shoreline and travel by foot or bicycle. Vehicles will also be allowed to parallel park from “family beach” in zone 15 to zone 14 in the cove. Due to the vehicle restrictions to the “the point,” visitors wishing to launch Jet Skies are encouraged to launch from Sister’s Creek Marina located at 8203 Heckscher Drive and approximately 3.5 miles from the park.

Like Kathryn Abby Hanna Park south of the St. Johns River, Huguenot Memorial Park was designated a Great Florida Birding Trail site by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission because of the outst
anding habitat and the abundance of various kinds of birds. The park includes a critical nesting area for terns and shorebirds, and often hosts rarities like bar-tailed godwits. Birders are likely to spot gannets, loons, and sea ducks.
The park also has the benefit of being located near many of the area's significant points of interest, including Fort Clinch State Park, the Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve, Mayport Naval Base, and the Jacksonville Zoo.
