Parade Categories and Judging

Click here to register your boat in the 2009 Jacksonville Light Parade.

The 2009 Jacksonville Light Parade is open to both powerboats and sailboats, with no limit on size. There is no fee to enter, but the parade is limited to 100 vessels. Register in one of the following categories to include your vessel in this festive holiday celebration!

Categories

  • 30' and Over (Private Individual)
  • Under 30' (Private Individual)
  • Sailboat
  • Commercial/ Corporation
  • Organized Club

    *The Grand Overall Winner is limited to Private Individual (30' and Over & Under 30') and Sailboat categories.

Judging
Judges will rate vessels on the basis of:
-
Best use of lights and decorations
- Composition
- Originality
- Holiday Spirit

Judges will be located on the Northbank and on the Southbank. 

Vessels will be disqualified if they do not make TWO COMPLETE LAPS along the parade route. Absolutely no exceptions.

The parade will make two laps. It begins at Metropolitan Park, travels along the Northbank past The Jacksonville Landing and circles to the Southbank. The route continues along the Southbank, under the Main Street Bridge, past the Navy Memorial statue and down to the Duval County School Board Building.

Captains' Meeting
Monday, November 16
5:30-7:30 p.m.
City Hall Pub
234 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. (Next to the Veterans Memorial Arena)
All boat captains must attend the mandatory meeting.  You must be a registered captain to attend the captains' meeting and participate in the parade.

Parade rules and regulations will be distributed and discussed at the Captains' Meeting.  It is important that every captain be familiar with the conduct of the parade. 

Captains will also receive their official boat identification number for judging and will turn in their holiday message about their entry that they would like announced during the parade. If your captain is unable to attend the meeting, please send a representative from your crew.
