Special Events for Senior Citizens and Special Programs for Older Adults enable Jacksonville's senior citizens to enjoy cultural, educational and recreational events and to be recognized as valued members of the community. Individuals 60 and over are encouraged to participate.

Mayor's Holiday Festival for Senior Citizens

Mayor's Walk for Senior Wellness
Spring 2010
Metropolitan Park

Join the City of Jacksonville for a 2-mile walk around the Sports Complex area to socialize while improving your health. Seniors ages 60 and over will receive a complimentary lunch and chances to win a variety of prizes.

10 a.m. Walk begins

Walk Route
The 2-mile walk begins at Metropolitan Park, follows Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and ends back at Metropolitan Park.

Please join us  for this fun, annual outing at Hanna Park for alive music, games, fried fish lunch and a fishing tournament. 29th Annual Senior Prom "Diamonds and Pearls"
Summer 2010
Prime Osborn Convention Center

No, not the one you went to in high school, it's a prom for senior citizens! "Diamonds and Pearls," the 29th Annual Senior Prom presented by the City of Jacksonville, will be held at the Prime F. Osborn Convention Center at 1000 Water Street.

Admission is $10 for seniors 60 years and over. Tickets will be sold at the Mary Singleton Senior Center and at the Office of Special Events, 117 W. Duval St., Ste 280.

Come dressed to impress for dinner and a night of music, dancing, door prizes and the crowning of the Senior Prom King and Queen. For more information, call 630-3690 or e-mail

An annual publication of services, goods and activities for senior citizens and their families in the greater Jacksonville area. The 2009 Senior Services Directory is available at all Senior Centers and Public Libraries as well as City Hall St. James.
