I want to hold an event for more than 500 attendees on city property. Where do I start?

What is the policy for street and bridge closures if I am holding an event for less than 500 attendees?
You must fill out a Closure Permit Form. The permit can be picked up at Traffic Engineering, located at 1007 Superior St. The completed permit can be turned into Traffic Engineering, for approval. After the permit is approved, it will be passed along to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Risk Management for additional approval. Once all signatures are obtained, the approved permit will be returned to you.

How can I get a fireworks permit?
The Permit for a Fireworks Display can be picked up at the Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters, 515 North Julia St. Following the guidelines and requirements, you will need to complete this permit and obtain all necessary signatures. For further questions regarding the Fire and Rescue Fireworks Permit, please contact Chief A. McQueen at (904) 630-0445.

If you are producing a fireworks show on the water or if you need to close a bridge for the fireworks show, you will need to complete additional permitting applications.

-For an on-the-water event, a Marine Event Application must be completed.

- To shoot fireworks on the water, a fireworks addendum must also be included.

How can I secure an Alcoholic Beverage Permit?
A beverage permit can be picked up and submitted to the State of Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Bureau of Licensing, located at 7960 Arlington Expressway, Suite 600 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only non-profit civic organizations may secure temporary one to three day permits. These permits require a fee per permit and the civic organization is only allowed three permits per year.

All sections of the application must be completed on both the front and back except the section titled Affidavit for Special Sales License and the form MUST have an original signature of an officer of the civic organization and must be notarized.

Your organization, as the permit holder, is the only entity that may receive any of the profits from the sale of alcoholic beverages on this permit. All records of alcoholic beverage purchases and sales must be retained for examination by the State of Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.

I am disabled and need an accommodation to attend a city event. Who can I contact?

Parking in the Sports & Entertainment Complex (area includes Metropolitan Park, Alltel Stadium, Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Memorial Arena) area is handled by SMG.
