Timucuan Preserve CorridorTimucuan Trail State and National Parks
Click on the links below to visit the National Parks Service and Florida State Parks websites and learn about additional parks within the Timucuan Trail State and National Parks partnership!

The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve
The 46,000 acre Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve was established to protect one of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast, and to preserve historic and prehistoric sites within the area. The estuarine ecosystem includes salt marsh, coastal dunes, and hardwood hammocks, all rich in native vegetation and animal life.

Big Talbot Island State Park
One of only a few undeveloped sea islands left along the Atlantic coast, this park offers a unique view into Florida's pre-European past. Walk down any of Big Talbot's nature trails and you may catch a glimpse of some Northeast Florida wildlife in its undisturbed habitat. The dynamic shoreline offers a stunning seascape vista of the Atlantic Ocean and Nassau Sound. The park offers recreational areas for picnicking, boating, or hiking. Migrating birds along with birds of prey like the Red Shoulder Hawk, Great Horned Owl, and an occasional Bald Eagle frequent the island. On Big Talbot Island one can always find a premier spot to enjoy nature study, bird watching, or photography.

Cedar Point at Timucuan PreserveLittle Talbot Island State Park
Little Talbot Island State Park is centrally located in the Talbot Islands State Parks chain of barrier islands. It is home to the park's Ranger Station, where you can find maps of the area, wildlife mounts, brochures, and a knowledgeable and friendly staff.  Please be aware of nesting shorebirds on the beaches of Little Talbot Island State Park. You are welcome to observe the nesting birds with binoculars, however we ask that you do not approach the nesting sites. Human presence may drive the birds off their nests. Signs have been posted in bird nesting areas.

Fort George Island Cultural State Park
Whether you walk, bike, or drive on Fort George Island, you will find yourself surrounded by lush vegetation. Hidden by this green mantle is evidence of 6000 years of human occupation; ranging from shell mounds, through plantation era structures, to a 1920's resort club. The history of Ft. George Island is a cross section of Florida's history.

The Ribault Club
Ft George Island Cultural State Park is home to the newly reopened Ribault Club. The Club was originally constructed in 1928, suffered through the Depression, and was eventually boarded up in the 1990's. Thanks to funding through Historic Preservation Grants, the Florida Park Service, the City of Jacksonville, and the National Park Service, the building was renovated and now serves as a Visitors Center and Gateway to the Timucuan Trail State and National Parks.
