Preservation Parks Access and Amenities
Jacksonville's preservation parks offer a bevy of activities for both the wildlife novice and experienced nature enthusiast. Please visit our individual park pages for information on what activities and ammenities are available at each location.

Wildlife Observation
Preservation parks encompass a wealth of diverse natural habitats, that provide ample opportunities to view exceptional wildlife of north east Florida.This icon indicates items such as: binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras are highly recommended.

Nature Trails
Preservation parks offer an assortment of paved and unpaved multi-user trails each specific to the preserve park or trailhead. Preservation parks span the county so each offers a diverse scenic trail habitat and an unique experience. Many trails are "back country trails" please plan accordingly to the time of year; remember to carry water, sunscreen, insect repellant, and be aware of possible sudden thunderstorms.

Leashed Pets Permitted
Well-behaved leashed pets are welcome on our hiking trails, pavilions, paved park roads, parking lots, multi-use trails, and campgrounds displaying this icon.They must be kept on a leash at all times and can not be left unattended. Some animals may be prohibited on a specific park property.

Bicycling
Many preserve parks are very popular between bicycle enthusiasts and offer unique trail riding experiences for all user levels. Bicycle riding is permitted on designated paved and unpaved trails, established roads, fire lines, except where restricted by signs. Most trails are multi-use so observe trail etiquette and yield to pedestrian and equestrian users. Equestrian Trails
Canoe and Kayak Access
Many preservation parks border undisturbed pristine water-bodies, bringing paddlers the experience of "Old Florida" from the water. Canoe and kayak access points are displayed by this icon. Refer to specific preservation park website for canoe and kayak rental availability and information.

Beach Access
Swimming
Swimming activities are permitted in preserve parks where this icon is displayed. Please use caution at all times, swimming only in safe conditions and in designated guarded areas. Swimming may be discouraged in areas of dangerous currents and is not recommended when Lifeguards are not on duty. City of Jacksonville lifeguard information and opportunities. Surfing Access
North Florida is well known throughout Florida for it's various reliable surf spots, Jacksonville especially. The Preservation Project and Partners Properties offer exceptional 'breaks" given the right conditions and tides. This icon indicates surfing is permitted. Please be aware of other swimmers and always use caution while enjoying the ocean.

Recreational Fishing in Permitted Areas
Recreational fishing as authorized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is allowed in Preservation Parks except where specifically restricted by signs. FWC requires any person engaging in recreational fishing to have appropriate fishing licenses in their possession, unless exempted by FWC.

Primitive Camping in Designated Areas

Group/Youth Primitive Camping
Contact the Preserve Park Management for group camping information, availability, and reservations. Areas may be available to groups and organizations.

RV Camping Facilities and Amenities
Indicates RV camping related facilities maybe available.

Pet Camping
Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome within campgrounds displaying this icon. Pets may not be left unattended and pet owners are responsible to pick up after their pets. Pets that are considered a nuisance are not allowed to remain in the park. Non-furbearing pets, such as reptiles, birds, or fish must be confined or under the physical control of the owner. Some animals may be prohibited on a specific park property. Florida law requires that pets be vaccinated against rabies. Failure to abide by these rules may result in the camper being asked to board the pet outside the park or to leave the campground.

Campfires Permitted Within Designated Areas
Drought conditions and imminent danger of wildfires may temporarily limit these activities. Please check with Park Staff for updated burn-ban information.
