About the EAP

Please do not hesitate to contact us, if we can be of any assistance. Thank You!

Our nation has seen numerous significant changes in both the workplace and society in general. Marked transformation regarding relationships between employees and their employers and between individuals and their families has been quite evident. As a result, employees are faced with increased mental and emotional challenges--including coping with stress, family issues, divorce, and substance abuse to name only a few. These matters clearly and dramatically affect their job performance. Some experts estimate that 10 to 25 percent of employees are in need of professional services to help them:

- Balance work and family

- Manage stress

- Cope with change

- Promote health

- Team building

- Achieve goals

- Conflict resolution

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Employee Assistance Program serves to help identify and resolve job performance problems associated with employees affected by personal concerns. It strives to accomplish this by helping our organization:

- Reduce costs

- Improve productivity

- Reduce absenteeism

- Decrease turnover

- Improve morale

- Minimize work-place conflict

In fact, a survey of 50 major companies showed that services like those mentioned above are responsible for:

- 33% decrease in use of health care benefits

- 65% decrease in work-related accidents

- 39% decrease in worker's compensation claims

- 74% decrease in time spent on supervisor reprimands

Research indicates that about two thirds of Americans' visits to primary-care physicians are stress related, 112 million people take medication for stress, and industry loses more than $150 billion annually to stress-related problems.

Here at JSO/EAP, we encourage a proactive prevention approach toward the promotion of wellness. Let us serve you by providing confidential, individualized services designed to meet your needs, those of your personnel or your families.
