Interagency Investigations
Interagency Special Investigations Unit
 

The Interagency Special Investigations Unit is staffed by one police detective who provides investigative and enforcement support to such City agencies as the JEA, Environmental and Resource Management Department, Public Works and the Neighborhoods Department.  The detective investigates an array of violations and crimes that affect the environment and/or  infrastructure. Much of the unit's success with compliance or prosecution comes with coordinating efforts with other regulatory and criminal justice agencies. 

 

Some of the unit's varied duties include:

-Waste tire enforcement

-Illegal dumping enforcement

-Background checks on waste hauler applicants

-Investigation of Superfund Sites to determine responsible parties

-Water restriction enforcement
