This information is provided by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to inform Jacksonville residents and visitors of special events that could affect traffic patterns. A link to the JSO Downtown Street Closure Map is provided when appropriate. Links to event information is provided when available.

This information includes events where the event sponsor or coordinator has been granted a Temporary Road Closure Permit or if the event is a regularly occurring event, such as a Jacksonville Jaguars home football game.

Update-Bridge closing and work times during the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair- November 3- 16, 2009

The Jacksonville Agricultural Fair dates are November 3-16, 2009.

It was agreed that the contractor could still work with exceptions.

  • Weekdays Monday - Thursday, daytime 9:00 am -3:30 pm, the contractor will be working with one lane closure (northbound/right lane).
  • Weekdays Monday - Thursday, nighttime 12:00 (midnight) - 6:00 am, the contractor will be working with a complete closure and detour....the detour will be Hart Bridge Expressway at Hart Bridge to the Matthew Bridge, Northbound and Southbound.
  • Friday - Sunday - both day and night the contractor will not be working and the there will not be any closures.
  • On the last day of the Fair, November 16th, the contractor will be allowed to work as if it were a regular contract day. Daytime lane closure (northbound/right lane), 9:00 am - 7:00 pm. and Nighttime Detour 7:00 pm - 6:00 am.

TEMPORARY DETOURS IN EFFECT AT I-295 AND COLLINS ROAD
 
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 28, 2009 –To allow for construction activities, temporary detours will be in effect at I-295 and Collins Road.  Traffic will be detoured at 103rd Street and will then re-enter I-295 from Blanding Boulevard.

The schedule is as follows:
- 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10
o I-295 southbound will be detoured.

- 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11
o I-295 northbound will be detoured.

Activity will occur at night to help mitigate its affect on traffic.  Directional signs will be posted accordingly and electronic message boards are in place to notify motorists about the upcoming activity. 

Collins Road (Rampart to Blanding) is a Better Jacksonville Plan road project which includes a new overpass and reconstruction of the roadway to a four-lane section with bike lanes, sidewalks and a curb and gutter on both sides.  Construction began April 2008 and is anticipated to be complete early 2010.

Road Closures and Detour Information:

  • Monroe Street will be closed between Broad Street (to the west) and Julia Street (to the east). 
  • Motorists may utilize Forsyth Street (one-way westbound) or Church Street (one-way eastbound) as detour routes.

Electronic message boards were put into place on Monday, May 11 to notify motorists of the impending construction activity and detour signage will be posted accordingly.

The road will be reopened once construction is complete.
