The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Department of Police Services is under the direction of Director Dandelake who is responsible for the department's overall operation. The department manages the critical support functions for all Jacksonville Sheriff's Office personnel and other members within the criminal justice community. The department is composed of the Budget & Management Division and Police Services Division.
The Budget & Management Division has the responsibility for the administrative functions of the Sheriff's Office, including budgeting, management and accounting.
During the 2001-02 fiscal year, the Budget & Management Division administered an operating budget of $203.4 million and federal/state grants totaling $20.9 million.
The Police Services Division comprises organizational functions that provide vitally important support services which complement law enforcement efforts. These services are not generally obvious or visible to the public, but are crucial to carrying out our responsibility to the citizens. An employee assigned to a services function is routinely the first point of contact for someone requiring police assistance.
The Communications & Central Records Unit, the Logistics & General Support Unit and the Civil Process Unit fall under the Police Services Division.
