Lieutenant Steven Weintraub |
The Court Security Section is led by Lt. Steven Weintraub and is divided into two units, the Court Unit and the Correctional Unit.
Court UnitThe primary function of the Court Unit is to provide security for all courtrooms and judges chambers. Also, the unit provides sworn uniformed bailiffs to monitor all entrances to the Duval County Courthouse. In addition to providing security for the courtrooms, the sworn bailiffs effect arrests of judge's orders, serve capiases and arrest warrants, and monitor the offices of the Domestic Relations Unit in the City Hall Annex. The Court Liaison Office, a part of the Court Unit, processes and maintains records concerning the filing of cases and depositions by on-duty and off-duty officers along with their pre-trial and court appearances relating to their arrests. During 2007, there were 15,691 officer appearances processed through the Court Liaison Office regarding court related issues.
Correctional Unit
The primary function of the Correctional Unit is to maintain security of all inmates from the sally port of the courthouse to the individual courtrooms and their safe return to the "sally port."
