The Public Counter Unit furnishes walk-up service
for a variety of needs including background checks, fingerprinting services, requests for photographs and 911 tapes as well as specialized report requests. Public Counter personnel also provide electronic fingerprinting for concealed weapons permit applicants.

In 2007 there was a 23% increase in the persons fingerprinted as a concealed weapons applicant. Our six substations also provide many of these services in conjunction with the Records Unit, to make access to our records more convenient to our citizens.
