Traffic and Sobriety Safety Checkpoints
Traffic and Sobriety Safety Checkpoints

There are  no traffic or sobriety safety checkpoints scheduled at this time.

It is the policy of this department to enforce the traffic laws in a manner that will allow everyone using the highway and roadway system to do so  free from harm or personal danger, and to provide a deterrent for those who would otherwise violate the traffic laws.  Enforcement is an important tool used to facilitate safety on Jacksonville's roadways.

Reducing the death and injury resulting from crashes involving impaired drivers is one of the most important objectives of this agency.  Accordingly, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office seeks to safeguard all drivers through the use of non-intrusive checkpoints to detect and remove impaired drivers from the roadways.  These Sobriety Checkpoints are scheduled periodically and operated by the JSO DUI Enforcement Unit.  The intent of a Sobriety Checkpoint is to increase the motorists' perceived risk of detection and arrest and to affect a greater public awareness of the problem of impaired drivers.  Public notification of scheduled checkpoints will be posted on this page.
