Rosanne Cash Plays for the Residents of the Community Corrections Department
 |
On Feb. 24 Rosanne Cash performed for the inmates and staff of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Community Corrections Division. Rosanne was invited to perform by the students in the Educational Assistance class.
The Educational Assistance class, taught by Shari Weitzner is designed to teach inmates with the life skills they will need to become productive members of society when they released from CCD. |
| During class, the students listened to the music of dad, Johnny Cash, and Rosanne and read their biographies. When Weitzner learned that Rosanne was appearing at the Florida Theatre she encouraged the students to use their expanding writing skills to compose individual letters asking if she visit CCD perform for them. Rosanne agreed to perform and provide a short question and answer session with the students. |

The class prepared introductions, greetings and individual questions to ask her during the performance. The performance was excellent and well received by all for the inmates and staff at the CCD. Rosanne responded with candid, heartfelt dialogue, warmth and a sampling of her beautiful music.
