Individuals may petition the Court for an Injunction for Protection if two threats or acts of violence by a juvenile have occurred, with the most recent incident occurring within the last six months. The victim must have the suspect's correct name, date of birth and an address where the individual can be served.
There are two types of Injunctions for Protection. The first is an Injunction against Domestic Violence. This type of Injunction is for family members, or people living in the same household, or parties with a child. The second type of Injunction is one against Repeat Violence. This is for people who have suffered more than one act of violence against them by an unrelated juvenile suspect.
The State Attorney's Office assists citizens with filling out the necessary paperwork. The Petitioner is then directed to the Juvenile Clerk's Office to complete the filing procedure.
