A late penalty of $10.00 is added to all citations after they remain unpaid for 15 calendar days. If the citation is still unpaid after 30 calendar days from the date of issuance, the late fee is $15.00, for a total of $25.00 in late fees. Should further collection efforts be necessary, a 40% collection fee will be added. "J" Parking Citations received in city-owned lots are issued when the vehicle is left in the lot after the lot is closed. These invoices are only for the hourly parking fee. They accrue late changes as indicated above but after 30 calender days, the full daily rate plus late fee is due.
Your vehicle can be immobilized for any of the following:
- Failure to pay violation number eight (8), nine(9), thirteen (13), or fourteen (14) within 20 calender days.
- Three delinquent (30 days unpaid) citations of any type other than "J" citations.
- Five "J" citations, with at least one being over 30 days old.
- One violation fourteen (14), altered tag. When this violation is present, the vehicle may be booted on the spot.
To have the device removed from your vehicle, bring cash in the amount of citations due plus the removal fee of $50.00 to the nearest Duval County Tax Collector's Office. Click here for the location nearest you.
If you choose to set a court date, failure to set a court hearing within 15 days of issuance of the violation shall result in the waiver of rights to a court hearing.
