Stimulus Snapshots
How $787 B will be allocated

- Overview
The federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), also known as the Economic Stimulus Package, makes available $787 billion to state and local governments, existing businesses, not-for-profits, faith-based and community organizations. Federal funds for individuals are available through tax credits, rebate programs and temporary assistance.
Money from the act can be obtained in three ways.
- Some funds will come to the city as part of formula-based grants.
- Competitive grants will be made to government agencies, not-for-profits or businesses.
- Federal agencies will distribute discretionary funds as deemed appropriate.
