Northwest Jacksonville was selected as a pilot neighborhood for the Seeds of Change: Growing Great Neighborhoods initiative in part because of its existing community-designed Neighborhood Action Plan, ongoing revitalization efforts and a strong presence by community and social service organizations. In addition, the Northwest Jacksonville community has a number of active Community Development Corporations (CDCs) working to enhance housing opportunities in the area.
As part of the initiative, the neighborhood is also linked to CSX Corporation, a community anchor that will pool its professional resources with the city's to better deliver services, build community relationships and recruit other partners.
