Mayor John PeytonMessage from Mayor Peyton
"The City of Jacksonville is a great place to do business and raise a family. As mayor, my top three priorities are cleaning up our river, ensuring robust economic development and protecting the safety of our residents. I am proud to serve as this city's mayor, and even prouder to call Jacksonville home."

Week of Valor Was A Big Hit
Mayor Peyton, his sons and residents throughout the city enjoyed paying tribute to America's veterans and active duty members of the U.S. military during the Week of Valor that ran from Nov. 3 through Veterans Day, Nov. 11.  A breakfast for veterans, solemn ceremonies and performances by Navy personnel were capped off by another great Veterans Day parade.

Mayor Peyton and Other Mayors Initiate Volunteer Program
Mayor John Peyton joined New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and 15 other mayors in New York City as one of the founding members of "Cities of Service," a project to engage millions of volunteers in serving neighborhoods, cities and the nation.  The project not only has the support of a broad bi-partisan political coalition, but the backing of the Rockefeller Foundation to fund the coordination of local efforts and sharing of strategies between cities.  For more information on this innovative approach to helping solve local problems, see the Cities of Service Web site or the press release issued by the mayors.
