Victims' Rights Week Press Conference

Mayor Alvin Brown will be joined by local victim advocates and victims of crimes and their families for a press conference to kick off the annual Jacksonville Victims’ Rights Week. Special guests include Captain Roy C. Undersander, commanding officer, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Commander Pat Pickard, executive officer, Naval Station Mayport, and State Attorney Angela Corey, Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
At the press conference, Mayor Brown will present a proclamation for the 2014 Victims’ Rights Week, which recognizes that approximately 19 million Americans are victims of crime each year. National Victims’ Rights Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the services and programs available to assist victims.

The Mayor’s Victim Assistance Advisory Council (VAAC) is joining forces with law enforcement, judges, victim advocates and concerned citizens throughout Jacksonville and surrounding areas to raise awareness about victims’ rights.
