Framed Portrait of Council Member Lori N. Boyer, District 5.Lori moved to Jacksonville upon graduation from University of Florida Law School in 1978. She began her legal career practicing primarily in land use and environmental law. In the early 90’s, she transitioned from private practice to working for several real estate investment and management companies founded by her late husband, Ron Nemeyer. Upon his death, Lori became President of those entities which at the time had holdings from Massachusetts to Florida. In that capacity, she has gained significant experience in finance and construction management as she continued to use her expertise in real estate, contracts and negotiation.

A resident of San Marco since 1987, Lori became active in San Marco Preservation Society immediately upon moving to the neighborhood. She has been President twice and held countless other Board and chair positions over the years. Among her accomplishments are construction of the tennis complex at Southside Park, relocation of Preservation Hall to Fletcher Park, and construction of Balis Community Center. Lori was named an Eve Award finalist in 2004 for her work on the creation and adoption of the San Marco zoning overlay.

Lori’s commitment to our City has reached well beyond her neighborhood. She has been active in Boy Scouts for over a decade and remains a merit badge counselor for the Riverbend District. She is a member of the Women’s Giving Alliance and the Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital working to provide funding for women’s issues and pediatric healthcare. Lori is a trained Red Cross shelter volunteer, and has served on the Board of the Jacksonville Historical Society, among others. Professionally, she is a member of Southside Businessmen’ Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Jacksonville Bar Association. A member of Church of the Redeemer, Lori is an Intervarsity sponsor and serves on the advisory board for the Institute of Worship Studies.

Lori was born in rural South Dakota, attended public schools, and worked at the local Dairy Queen throughout high school. She received a B.A. from Georgetown University before coming to Florida. She is married to Duval County Judge Tyrie W. Boyer and together they share a blended family of one son, (R. J. Nemeyer) three daughters, (Quinn Nemeyer Carlson, Kimberly Boyer Hellmuth, and Kelley Boyer) and two grandsons.
