Presentation of Flags to Regional Champs –
the Mandarin Sports Association's Girls All Star Team

Councilwoman Sharon Copeland, District 6, had a special treat for the fifteen young ladies that comprise the Mandarin Sports Association's Girls All Stars yesterday, August 4, 2003. She presented them with the City of Jacksonville and Florida State flags to carry with them and display, later this week, at the national Babe Ruth Softball World Series in Wilson, North Carolina.

Copeland shared her thoughts with supporters who gathered for this special occasion at Alberts Field, 'The spirit and determination of these young ladies makes me believe our future is in good hands. I wish them all the luck in their competitions later this week and I hope they know today how proud we are of them.'

The group, which makes up the fast pitch girls softball team, are all 12 and under and will be accompanied to the national competition by all three team coaches, Clarence Moultrie, Paige Carlyle, and Kevin Adams. These coaches have seen the girls through to this championship season. The team earned the privilege of competing nationally by becoming the local, district and then regional champions.
