July 17, 2006

City Council President Michael Corrigan welcomed the Heart Gallery of Jacksonville's 'Tour of Portraits' to City Hall today at the opening of the weeklong exhibit. During the event, President Corrigan presented Jim Adams, CEO of Family Support Services of North Florida, with a proclamation from the Mayor proclaiming the week of July 17th through July 21st as 'Heart Gallery Week' in Jacksonville.

The Heart Gallery of Jacksonville, established by the Family Support Services of North Florida, was created to raise awareness and recruit families for children in foster care hoping to be adopted. The mobile exhibit which has traveled throughout Jacksonville, featuring Duval County children, will be on display in the City Hall Atrium from Monday, July 17th through Friday, July 21st.

In welcoming the gallery to City Hall, Council President Corrigan said, 'I am pleased to have this exhibit in a public place that is visited by thousands weekly. It is our hope that this photographic display of these beautiful children will serve to raise awareness within the community and ideally inspire someone to make a difference in the life of a child.'
