Job Fair for Displaced Employees of Simulated Gambling Establishments

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 21, 2019 – More than 40 businesses and service providers are participating in this job fair for displaced employees of simulated gambling establishments. (Participants listed at end of press release.) The job fair is Thursday, October 24, 2019 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at Emmett Reed Community Center located at 1093 West 6th Street, Jacksonville, FL 32209. While this job fair is designed to assist those affected by the closing of these establishments, this job fair is open to the public.

MORE THAN 40 BUSINESSES AND SERVICE PROVIDERS PARTICIPATING IN JOB FAIR HOSTED BY CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS PITTMAN AND BOWMAN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CAREERSOURCE NORTHEAST FLORIDA AND GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF NORTH FLORIDA 

CareerSource Northeast Florida will have staff on-site at the job fair to assist attendees in connecting with local employers. Attendees are asked to bring multiple copies of their resume.  
 
Goodwill Temps, a program of Goodwill Industries of North Florida, will be present and can hire immediately for both internal and external Goodwill positions. All applicants should bring two valid forms of ID (driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, Social Security card). Goodwill Temp staff will assist applicants in creating resumes if applicants do not have one. Some jobs will require on-site drug screening.
 
Positions include warehouse, laundry, retail, e-commerce, janitorial, call center, security, hospitality, manufacturing, and more. Some jobs include seasonal positions. All attendees should dress for success.

Pittman stated, “Our efforts together are to address the issue of displaced workers by partnering with local businesses that have resources and options to provide an opportunity for employment.” Bowman agreed, saying, “The amount of support from the business community and service providers shows our City’s commitment to our citizens and their families.”
