Office of Director - Council Secretary Provides New Level of Transparency for Citizens Through Live Streaming

September 02, 2015
In an effort to provide more services to the citizens of Jacksonville and increase their access to community meetings hosted by a Council Member, the Office of Director/Council Secretary will begin live broadcast of open forums and Town Hall Meetings.  Citizens will be able to live stream these meetings on their computers or mobile devices. This new level of transparency will kick off on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 7:00p.m., at Council Member Katrina Brown’s Town Hall Meeting at Bradham-Brooks Library located at 1755 Edgewood Avenue West, Jacksonville, Florida 32208.

“We want to bring City government to citizens regardless of where they are. In addition, citizens deserve access to community meetings and receive information firsthand even if they are unable to attend.” says Council Secretary/Director Dr. Cheryl Brown.  In the event a citizen cannot attend the meeting and misses the live stream, click on this link to view the broadcast at http://player.theplatform.com/p/IfSiAC/OjPvcpZdO5wM/select/QM66zp2nf9__?form=html. Citizens of Jacksonville should be informed and feel connected to their elected officials. It is the goal of the Office of Director/Council Secretary to continuously enhance the system of transparency for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of local government which strengthens the public’s trust. Dr. Brown stated, “There are more exciting things coming”.
