Brief traffic holds for television commercial filming
The Riverside Avenue ramp leading north off the Acosta bridge will be closed for approximately 2 to 4 minutes per hour, from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. The area will be utilized to film a Lexus television commercial.

Bands of all genres welcome to compete
Whether they perform hip-hop, indie rock or R&B, local teens are invited to Own the Night, the 7th Annual Teen Battle of the Bands at the Jacksonville Public Library. Musicians ages 12 to 18 must register from now to May 31 to rock in this free, one-of-a-kind local competition. This popular contest gives teens the opportunity to perform their original work and build confidence in their stage presence. The Battle of the Bands competition will be held on June 23 beginning at 1 p.m.

It is an annual campaign emphasizing the success, at the national and local level, of the contributions of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. CDBG is a federal formula entitlement grant awarded annually to the city through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The City of Jacksonville’s Environmental Quality Division (EQD) is issuing an air pollution episode alert this afternoon and evening in response to smoke from fires currently burning in the area. Elevated levels of particulate matter from smoke will exceed National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The Particulate Matter levels being recorded can have an adverse effect upon sensitive groups: the elderly, the very young, those with asthma, and those with respiratory problems.
